Funky VanCity Billboard

E-mail Print PDF

Carl-with-Acuity

True Colours was tasked with the production of a very unusual billboard this month. Wasserman and Partners designed the Vancity advert to incorporate a real windmill and a 3 dimensional, shaped backlit panel. The windmill was shipped in from Alberta and a custom stand was fabricated for it to anchor it to the gantry of the billboard. "Money" was then printed and wrapped onto the blades and hub of the windmill. The low voltage LED light panels were then pieced together and the colourful digitally printed plexi panels were attached with stand-off hardware. We think it's turned out to be quite an eye-catching piece, right on the money!

True Colours Dyna Graphics helps Grey Advertising scoop Gold at Cannes Lions.

An intrinsic ability to convert ideas into reality is a trait which the two recently merged companies DynaGraphics and True Colours have always had. It's also one which Dynagraphics needed to draw upon in spades to help the team at Grey Vancouver win a Gold Lion in the Direct marketing category at the recent prestigious Cannes Lions advertising awards festival in France. The innovative winning piece was an ingenious cardboard record player that could be spun with a pencil. To see a video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7CL0n5rR70) of the record player in action.

True Colours Ltd of North Vancouver buys Canadian with the purchase of a FujiFilm Acuity Advance flatbed printer. The machine, ordered from FujiFilm at SGIA trade show in Las Vegas in October, was delivered on November 1. It can print in colour and white directly on rigid materials up to almost 2" thick and 4 feet by 8 feet in size, plus a roll-to-roll option with a width capacity of 86.5". The ability to print directly onto rigid material enables faster turnrounds as well as, in many instances, eliminating the need for mounting and laminating.

"The Acuity," says company president Carl May, "is manufactured right here in Richmond, BC and utilizes the latest in variable dot technology, producing the best image resolution of any flatbed machine I've seen to date. True Colours has built its reputation on providing exceptional quality and this new unit now allows us to provide direct to substrate print output that meets our exacting standards."

Independently owned True Colours, in its 20th year of operation, specializes in producing many types of digital printing, signage and displays for sales centres, conventions, tradeshows, shopping malls, museums and exhibitions as well as unusual items for advertising stunts and film studio props.

Dyna History

E-mail Print PDF

Dyna Graphics Ltd: has been owned and operated by 3 equal partners, Dennis Bayluk, Dennis Selinger and Rick Selinger, since August 1984. Each of the 3 partners has spent their entire working careers (over 40 years each) in the graphics industry. Their wealth of knowledge and dedication to providing superior products and services are what has enabled the company to succeed. The company’s focus has been to provide these products and services to Advertising Agencies, Designers, Large & Small Corporations and Printers. Although the graphics industry has changed significantly since 1984, the partners’ philosophy has not and that has been to be honest, provide fair pricing and to stand behind the products and services offered.
